It's Over...It's All Over!

No, no...I don't mean the blog, don't panic.

I mean my funk, my angst, my deep navel gazing into figuring out whether I want to continue blogging.

The answer is yes, yes I do.

I'm back.

I have to say it was very heart-warming to read all your comments in response to my last post. Apparently there's a bunch of you who would miss me if I was gone.

So, with some new found enthusiasm, I will merrily continue.

I may mix it up a bit.  Maybe a bit of a different approach, some different subject matter, different frequency...whatever.  We'll have to see.

Sadly, I just returned from a Vegas trip where things didn't really go my way.  And I will be talking about that.  Not just in regards to specific sessions, but perhaps more globally.  I also want to talk about more general topics as they affect me.

But....not only were the results disappointing, but so was the blogging material I gathered.  Nothing at all in my particular favorite blog post "genre"--the "woman said."  I didn't find a single crazy female at any of the tables I played at, and those are the posts I love to write the most.

No hooker stories either.  Oh, I saw quite a few, but managed to avoid them completely.  And I didn't see or overhear them say or do anything interesting.

So it will be mostly poker, and poker with not very good results.

Oh yeah, I did get called a "dick" on my last night in town.  Right after I rivered a straight flush.  That will be a good post.

So we'll just have to see what I can come up with between now and the next time I visit Vegas, whenever that may be.

Thus, I should have a new post--a real post--up tomorrow evening.  But it won't be about this current trip.  It's an older story I started on before the recent trip.  I should be able to finish it quickly and get it posted then.  That's the best I can do as I have a column due for Ante Up this week and as of right now, I have not written one word of it.

But I'm back (actually, I never really went anywhere, did I?)

And since so many of you indicated you would miss the boobies more than my epic missives, here's a few to hold you for now.

Enjoy!

  2. So glad to read you'll be blogging on. I don't comment very often, but I do read virtually every post you make ... and enjoy them too. Fortunately, being retired, I have plenty of free time for reading long missives! :-)

My wife and I are 90% set on coming to Las Vegas in late April next year. We haven't bought the airline tickets yet, but will in the next month or two. I expect we'll stay at the Paris, which is where we've stayed the last 4-5 times we've gone to LV (Rio used to be our preferred place but it's a real hassle to get to the strip from there when one in the party needs a wheelchair cab). I'll let you know the dates as soon as we're set ... with luck, we'll be able to play some poker together, or at least meet up for a cup of coffee.

    1. Thanks, Cranky, really appreciate it.

I would love to meet you in April, please do let me know when you are set. Not at all sure what my dates are for any trips next year--way too long out to think about--but my birthday is late April so I'm usually there (Sadly tho, didn't make it out there this year).

      Keep me posted.

And don't worry, there will be more boobies too.

  5. Rob, please include more stories of hooker encounters/sightings from now on. No matter how trivial, the world needs to know exact details, time, place, pick up line she used, clothing, purse size, etc.

    1. Oy Vey. Sorry Woody, I was up for gathering hooker stories this time, perhaps next time I will be more attentive.

  7. Rob, glad to hear you're going to keep the blog up. I for one will definitely be reading!! :-)

I do have to say though, I was going to email you. I have a guest blog post if you want to run it, about a moment of poker karma (the justice type, not the money type) I had at Hawaiian Gardens Casino a week or so ago. Let me know if you'd like to see it.

    1. Thanks, Steve.

YES, by all means, I would love to post your HA Gardens story, absolutely. And if you want to contribute a guest post regularly or semi-regularly (like you suggested in the comment on the previous post), that would be cool.

My email address is on this very page. On this particular post, it is just to the right of some very large breasts, so it might take you a while to find it.

  9. Rob, Yes I want more Vegas hooker stories, but I also want more stories about the girls talking dirty at the poker tables.

Prudence has been a complete lady lately. Bummer. Perhaps we need to get her buzzed.

    1. Yeah, I want the woman saids too. Prudence was pretty raunchy last time I played-- a few months ago--but I didn't get to play poker with her this time, sadly.

    1. Thanks, Phil, appreciate you're commenting.

The very early posts with KK were all disasters, that's how they became dreaded. Now it makes a good story if I win or lose, but overall, I'd bet I've still posted more negative stories than positives.

I've probably won more pots (tho not necessarily more money) with them than I've lost, but that includes when I raised pre and didn't call, or won with a c-bet on a non-threatening flop.

But as of now, there's ONLY 163 posts with that tag, so you have lots of reading available when you have the time!

    2. Hmmm....need a grammar cop to determine if I used the right"you're" there.

If I had said, "appreciate THAT you're commenting," it would be for sure right. But if I said, "appreciate your comment" it would have been incorrect.

The way I phrased it, I'm not sure.
