Home at Last!

Well, on Friday, I finally made it back home from Vegas.  My return was a week later than planned.  You see I was actually stuck in Vegas, and I don't mean "stuck" as in the losing at the table kind of stuck.  I was basically stranded in Vegas for the past week.

I know, I know, it doesn't sound so bad.  Oh, you were stuck in that hellhole Vegas, huh?  Let me get the world's smallest violin.

But it was actually awful.  I hadn't planned on it, so I ran out of clothes, medications and most of all, patience.  Worse, I had to rent rooms at the last minute over the New Years holiday, a time when the hotels charge obscene amounts of money for rooms.  And I had no choice but to pay through the nose.

What happened?  Well, long story short, I had a bit of car trouble.  Now, if you like short posts, this is all you have to read.

However, I've already promised my closest pals LM & Woody, who followed my ordeal every step of the way, that if I ever got home safe and sound I would inevitably do a 23-part blog post reporting on every twist, every turn, every single detail in typical Robvegaspoker fashion.

It might not actually be 23-parts, but it will take multiple posts, I assure you.

I'll get started on it soon, after I start to recover from the whole thing.  In the meantime, you have this Cliffs notes version.

Oh yes, in between car issues, I did play poker and get a fair amount of good material from the poker table to write up for you.  I haven't decided for sure, but since it will take time and effort to report on my Vegas escape, I might not run those posts consecutively.  I may intersperse other material in between.  We'll just have to see how it goes.

Stay tuned.

Since I'm still recovering, what follows below are some pictures that will put a smile on my face.  Most of you will like them, but if these are not the kind of pics that will make you smile, I encourage you to start your own blog and whenever you get trapped someplace for a week and escape, you can post the type of pictures that make you smile on it.

  1. Number three has a wholesome air about her. If she plays tennis that is a plus. Happy New Year Rob!

    1. Happy New Year, Lester. You're quite the tennis fan, aren't you?

Reminds me that while in Vegas at the only sports book where I saw the line, Djoker was even money to win the Aussie open. While I agree he has to be favorite now that he's reclaimed his status as the best tennis player in the world, against the entire field that seems like a bad price. You should be able to get at least 8-5 if not 2-1. But then I never really followed betting lines in tennis so what do I know?

    2. Nice to see another Djoker fan on the intrawebs. I wonder if they have an option Anyone but Djoker to win the tournament at even money?

    3. I didn't see if you could vote for Anybody but Djokovic, but if you were able to bet the field against him, it wouldn't be even money since he is even money to win. The sports books would make no money on that bet. Since he's even money, you would have to get LESS than even money to bet the field. It would be like 4/5 or 3/5 and you'd have to lay money to bet it.

That's why I think that line is off. Against all those tough players, having to win 7 best of 5 matches, he's gotta be less than 50/50 to win.

I wonder what Federer was to win back he was winning three out of four slams every year? Or for that matter, When Sampras was winning 7 Wimbledons, was he even money to win it?
